About

I am a licensed psychologist (License #PY60513253) in the State of Washington.  I earned my B.A. from Stanford University and my doctorate from DePaul University in 1997.  I completed my doctoral internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, with a specialty in doing psychotherapy with adolescents.   My training included long and short-term therapy with adults and adolescents as well as psychological assessments and treatment for individuals in crisis.  Upon completing my doctorate, I counseled students at Roosevelt University Counseling Center in Chicago and also conducted therapy and crisis assessments at a community hospital in Chicago.  I opened a private practice in Chicago in 1998, working with adults as well as students from Northwestern University.  I practiced in Chicago until 2015 when I moved to Seattle.

During the initial session, we can determine if I’m the best person to provide you the services you need.  It if looks like I can be helpful then I usually schedule one 50 minute session per week, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent, depending on your situation or concern.

I view counseling as a collaborative process.  Through mutual understanding and consent,  I work together with clients to establish treatment goals and steps to achieve those goals   Psychotherapy is a process of identifying and understanding feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships that cause distress.  There are many different methods that I may use to deal with problems you hope to address.  My treatment approach is integrative and  influenced most notably by psychodynamic, humanistic and development theories.  My approach to counseling also tends to be interpersonally focused, recognizing the importance of a good connection between therapist and client to help effect change.
